My name is Michael Falk and I am a 3D modeler, storyboard artist and illustrator with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Media Arts & Animation from The Art Institute of Jacksonville. My professional experience -over the course of my educational career- includes working as a director, storyboard artist, 2D animator, 3D modeler and 3D animator on a number of commercials for Jacksonville, FL-based clients. I also completed an internship in the Digital Operations department of Nickelodeon Animation Studios in Burbank, CA.
During my ten week internship, I was tasked with the digital archiving of over 10,000 production images and animatics for the Nickelodeon series, El Tigre. Additionally, I assisted in the physical archiving of original artwork from Nickelodeon classic series such as Ren & Stimpy; Hey, Arnold!; Dora the Explorer; Avatar: The Last Airbender; and The Legend of Korra.
In January of 2010 I retired from a reserve component of the United States Navy, having reached the rank of E7, Chief Petty Officer. My Naval career spanned twenty years and included a combat deployment into Iraq in 2004 where I served as the Leading Chief Petty Officer and Assistant Convoy Commander for Tactical Movement Team Fourteen. Upon my retirement from the Navy I returned to the artwork that had been such an integral part of my developmental years and began publishing two webcomics on a regular basis. Realizing that I could better tell my stories through animation, I returned to school in order to better prepare myself to meet that objective.
I live in Los Angeles with my wife and eleven year old son, working as a part time animation teacher for a local high school. My goal is to work in the animation industry as a storyboard artist, 3D modeler, or background artist, eventually creating my own content for production.
